hey does anyone know the best way to remove dog hair?????? i just got my ranger and the last owner had a dog that went everywhere with him and i have dog hair everywhere and cannot get it all out

 

vacuum it like crazy, spend a good couple hours doing it. ive got a white boxer and anytime i take her somewhere ive gotta spend about an hour vacuuming - its a pain but its what has to be done.

 

I have actually seen a rubber-like brick thing that you can buy.

Ive used one on coutches and stuff like that. You rub the rubber thing on the coutch and it yanks up all of the pet hair without messing with the furniture fiber.

That thing worked GREAT.

well this is the main reason i finally went down to local depot and got a shop vac... the martha stewart **** the wife uses around the house just wouldnt cut it... get yourself a good powerful vac and go to town.. if your still having trouble i rub it hard with my hand to free it up and then come back with the vac i guess an old brush the wife doesnt use anymore would also work to free it up

 

as far as that rubber taylor is talking about i remember my mom had a broom like that that noone ever used and i tried it on the carpet once and it worked really good i havent seen anything like it since however

 

Every now and then the dog rides in the back of the extra cab and it sheds like it has a purpose...damn wife and her dog.

I ended up going to the buck store and buying those sticky tape lint roller type things...Pull the sheets off the roller and press them into the seats...seems to work pretty well

Thats why my dog doesn't ride in my Ranger anymore. If I plan on taking him anywhere, I throw him in the back of my Bronco. The carpet is still hairy as hell, but at least I can clean the leather easy enough.

 

I just sweep it or use a lent roller

 

there is too much hair for a lint roller it would talk like a month of constant cleaning with a lint roller and shop vac doesnt want to pick it up. i guess i will have to pull the seats out and shampoo it or something

If you really want to get it all out, take the covers off the seats and wash them. carpet, take all the seats out and vacuum it really well.

masking tape has always worked for me. also had good luck with anti static spray and a shop vac.

 

could also use rubber gloves (disposable gloves work to) or the gloves with the rubber coating on the palm and fingers and just cup your hand and pull all the dog hair towards you in one spot and vac it up, I use to detail cars for 2 years and picked up tricks

 

carton sealing tape
wrap it around your hand and go to town with it

 

Roll of expensive duct tape + super sucker shop vac.

 

I have a yellow lab and she rides in my truck all the time so cleaning out hair is a weekly job for me. I find the best way to remove dog hair is to get a good strong shop vac, remove the hard plastic tip off the vacuum so you are left with just the soft plastic tube part of the shop vac. The texture at the end of the tube on the shop vac will cause the hair to lift and get sucked right in. For places were the hair is really stuck in good get a small spray bottle put some water in it and give it a light spraying over the area and then shop vac it. This works great for hair "stuck into" the seat or carpet material around the bottom of the seat. If you are familiar with yellow labs you know the fur is like needles when it comes off and it sticks in big time to the seat material.

The only down side to the shop vac trick is you may need to trim the edge of the tube before you go to put the plastic top back on the end of the tube. It gets torn from time to time after multiple uses. I have two hose tubes now and I leave one intact with the palstic tip on it so I can attach the different vaccum attachments and I have another hose tube that I leave without the plastic tip to use especially for hair removal.

 

I have a husky, and he goes for rides, but i find the best trick it to brush your seat. then vacuum it. just get a brush you use on your dog, then run the vacuum right over top of it, works great.

 

These work like a champ..........we have THREE long haired dogs that go everywhere with us, so we use this regularly. have it in one hand, shop vac in the other. Use the brush in a circular fashion, like you are cleaning a spot out of the carpet. have vac in other hand to suck it up.

 

Having three dogs, Hair removal from my Ranger has become somewhat of a specialty of mine.LOL. I use a very small, but powerful Craftsman shop vac., and a round brush attachment. I found that if you work it in circles it really pulls the hair out. I have also used: toothbrushes,the carton/ duct tape on the hand idea, a damp cloth worked in circles, and lint rollers, all of which I find work well.. Since my dogs are going to be riding in my truck forever, I also bought a Bissel Green Machine, Portable shampooer. They are expensive (around $100 at Wal-Mart), but I use it on all my vehicles and even in the house. It has a power brush, regular brush, and even a crevice tool that shoots water! Awesome for those that own dogs. ( For us dog owners, I recommend the removable seat covers, a blanket for them to ride on, and floor mats! These items will help prevent ground in hair, are removable for washing, and can be replaced cheaply if needed)
Of course, I have been known to tear out everything above the carpet for that "Just got it home" detail, but it's not something I like to do on a regular basis.
The one other Item I have seen, that works well is made by Pledge, and sold in the househould cleaning section. It is a disposable set of "rollers" that are awesome for ground in hair, but they don't fit well into corners.

I use the Mars Coat King on my dogs...it works great! I've heard great things about the Furminator, too...but it doesn't work for my dogs-it just gets stuck in their long hair.
