howdy all, was cruising in the trails wit my 2.9L 90 custom, and crossed pathes with a guy in a jeep who told me hes got a 4.0L for sale.. I immidiately thought on getting it to swap the drive train onto mine for the juicier diffs and what not, then I thought..why not swap the motor and transmission, (mine is auto wanna go standard). I swapped the motors of mustangs before, but never with a truck like this..whats the motor mount situation like with this..If any of u guys put the 4.0L u have in u truck id appreciate some tips on what to expect and what to watch out for here. Ive owned a 4.0L before and have always regretted getting rid of it..

 

motor, trans, wiring, cooling, computer, throttle cable, driveshaft, rear axle possibly. basically everything touching the engine. you could use your 2.9 trans, it will bolt to a 4.0. however, it's not made to handle the extra torque.

 

i hope this jeep guy has a FORD 4.0L... otherwise that inline 6 jeep engine will not fit in your truck

 

No sorry my bad it is a Ranger 1st gen too actually..It's a complete truck so like I said i'd like to swap his 4.0L standard into my truck also
