Toolbox
Toolbox
What is your guys opinion on toolboxes? Do you think they take up too much room?
Over the rail vs inside the bed?
I am debating on weather or not I should get one. I have the 5.5ft bed and that is why I can't decide.
Here are some pictures just because.

Ideas for something else? Were you thinking something else in the bed or like something under the rear seats?
just a thought but what are u going to be putting in the bed with a 5.5 foot bed that wont fit in a bed thats only a foot and a half or so shorter?
edit: tool boxes on full sizes hold a lot of stuff in my opinon.

ive got a small bed as well have an over the rail box and i hate it but need it for my tools ext i have aout 4 ft of bed left to mess with after my box and it drives me insane but what can i do lol like i said i need my tools for my job :( on top of that i have the ext cab /sigh
I would put a container like one of those rubbermaid things that you can easily take out and put in the back seat just in case you have to use the whole bed.
Get a tonneau cover. I think you mentioned before that you have a bedrug in your truck? It's even better under a tonneau. What I used to do before was I stole a few milk crates and kept them in the front of my bed with stuff in them and used a ratcheting tie down to hold them in place. Then if I needed the bed space I could take them all out and stack them in my garage

I was thinking about the milk crate thing too but I am not a fan of the tonneau covers for on the bigger trucks. If I had a cap I would be all set. lol
It all boils down to what you are useing the truck for. Is it just a DD/grocery getter or a work truck that hauls material every day? Are you moving tools and people or just the occasional bulky items once a month?
I used to have one. I sold it about a month ago. Got 4 times what I paid for it so I couldn't really pass that up.

That thought has crossed my mind as well.
get it now?
Also, i vote milk crate idea, I picked up a crate from work that with a little modification, fits in between the rollbars and has a cover, it has gave me a bunch more space inside the truck and more storage outside also.
I like the toolbox in the ranger. I have everything I need for doing a job on site. It locks, it's water proof, it's great. I tried one in the f350, hated it. Have to get in the bed to get whats in the middle of the toolbox. That and I use the bed so it became a PITA to take in and out all the time.
