Ranger Governed at about 89-91 mph

Anyone know about the governs on the Rangers? I have a 2003 4.0 4x4 that is governed around 90. Is it a mechanically governed or is it electronically? Any help would be appreciated.

Its governed so people wont speed and end up killing folks.
Leave it alone.

Why do you need to go faster than that.

Because I like to go fast on the highway. Just been in other Rangers that have gone over 90 no problem, pisses me off that I have one that's governed. Want to get rid of it.

I have a 2001 Camaro Z28. If I want to go real fast, I drive that. If I want to get to the mud hole, I drive my truck, I just want to get there a bit faster. It was honestly just a question if anyone knew if it's a mechanical governor or electrical.

haha nah i would of just posted a picture of rice.

SCT Xcal 3 is what most of us on here run. you'll need to get custom tunes from someone. people go with fred at rogue performace or doug at (bama?)

it will get rid of the governor, change your shift points, and have harder, more firm shifts if you've got an auto

$400 to go 90+mph
Getting caught at 90+mph = Arrest
You do the math why go 90 in a Ranger it's retarded. Have fun flipping over and killing other people

He asked a simple question. If you have the answer, answer it. Save your preaching. Talking about doing unsafe stuff with a truck, while everyone is lifting them, putting bigger tires on, and modifying the suspension (so its good off road, with some mall-terrain tires and open diffs WTF) which drastically changes the handling from what the factory intended can be just as dangerous. Not to mention the extra strain it puts on suspension components that don't hardly last on stock equipped trucks.

I can't say I agree with going over 90 in a ranger, it's pretty sketchy as it is at 80. Getting to the mud hole at 110 is pointless. Ecause it's not going any were. It's like speeding on the high way, sure you want to go 65 or 70 in the 55 and someone's holding you up, but sure as **** you hit the first light and it's red and the guy you passed is right behind you.

As for the tuner pedro is correct, and I also want to say some of the generic tuners can lift the limiter, ie. jet and super chips.

this is your third post in this thread, establishing the downfalls of removing the governor. I think he gets it now. let him do as he pleases. obviously its not safe to do speeds in excess of the speed limit, we all know that. as long as he doesn't take anyone else with him, in his endeavors, what he does, is his own doing.

yeah for real haha post *****.

I do 90 in the ranger almost daily and never once has it ever felt close to flipping, sliding, swerving, loose, unsafe by any means. Ford built a solid truck, I maintain a solid truck. If the engine would allow me id take her to 120 without the bat of an eyelash.

do as you please. Go fast.
