Leather seat color change
Leather seat color change
Alright for those who have leather seats or find a set of leather seats but in a color they don't want, well you can change that easily by using some of SEM's products.
What you need:
SEM Soap 39362 (or rubbing alcohol to clean)
SEM Plastic and Leather Prep 38353
SEM Classic Coat Aerosol (color of your choice, I used GM Black)
SEM Low Luster Clear Coat (brings the shine down a bit and protects the color)
800 grit gray sanding pad (lightly scuff to open up the pores in the leather)
Nylon bristle brush (for the cloth/velour part of the seat)
Shop Vac
I'm really surprised how my seat turned out, I just went to pick up more supplies to do the other seat. It gets a little expensive (around $150 total) but I'm pleased with the result. I looked into it quite a bit before doing it, thats why I didn't care when I traded the fusion seats for the tan explorer buckets. They actually used this method to do the Darth Vader VW on "Inside WestCoast Customs", they had a representative from SEM come into the shop with a few of his guys to do them from tan to black.

yup, first the center console with another type of black and now this. SEM FTW!

Looks good. I would like to see how they wear, though. I've had experience with many products (by reputable companies, too) that are supposed to work well in dying vinyl, leather, cloth, etc, but they all wore off, and it didn't take all that long to happen.
Definitely post up some pics after you've been using them for a while!

I already got rid of my folder with links to them but i just googled and quickly found this one. BMW seats that used to be tan in a volvo

they'll last over two years. I got the idea from a BMW and Porsche forums (older ones). They say they've got 2 years on em and still look as good as when they've done them. I did my homework on this before doing it and seeing WCC use it on a client's car, I trust it haha
Think it's possible to do the vinyl/leather top to the expo console? I tried a product from duplicolor that was suposed to do the job it did until the material streached from my elbow resting on it and quickly flaked off.... Leaving it looking like poo

thanks!
I see what you did there
