I found a free vin check tool! Free Vin Check to look up Vehicle History | Vehicle-Buyer.com You will need to enter the password "freevincheck". Free is a LOT cheaper then car-fax save the 50 bucks for some mods lol.

 

I did a quick check and found it can't be trusted 100%. It listed the trim on my Ranger as "Edge Plus SuperCab 4WD - 377A". It also listed the place of manufacture as "United Sates". The other information was obvious.

So, if you want to know if your Ranger is a Ford, this is a helpful tool but it may not to give you the specific plant that manufactured it and the trim level may not be correct. I guess you can't expect a lot from something that is free.

 

It had a listing of every place in Tennessee and Texas that I've ever registered and had an inspection at..

It also had a listing of an accident when some lady backed into it and virtually tapped the bumper, yet still felt the need to call the police for an accident report.. :(

 

It did the same here 1987 Ford Ranger Custom / S Special / STX / XLT. But for free you cant beat it.
