I am looking at buying an 89 ford ranger 4x4 with the 2.9 and a 5 speed. i was wondering if there is anything to look out for when i look at it. the motor has 81,000 miles and other than that not much else to say. please let me know of any gremlins i may have to look at in the future if i do buy. thanks

 

The '89 2.9l engine had the better heads, less prone to cracking.
If it is an '89 motor.

All 2.9l's had a weakness with low oil pressure at the valve train when miles got above 100k, this didn't seem to bother them, just noisy.
