7.5 axle shaft work in 8.8 ring gear

7.5 axle shaft work in 8.8 ring gear

Hi, i have a 2006 ranger XLT 4.0L 6C 4WD SOHC
the rear differential is an 8.8"
My question is will a 7.5" rear axle shaft work with/fit inside the 8.8 ring gear? (Right side).

no the spline count is different , plus the 7.5 axle shaft diameter is smaller then the 8.8 axle shaft

Tks,
Im pretty sure the spline count is the same (28). But you say the diameter is different? If the diameters were the same would it work then?

You have an 8.8" rear axle. Buy 8.8" axle shafts. Shafts for a 7.5 won't work.

oops i goofed

axle shaft diameter is the same but spline count is different

27 splines for the 7.5 , 28 splines for 8.8

Tks for the replies. The 7.5 axle shaft i have has 28 splines. Can someone tell me the difference between a 7.5 & 8.8 AXLE SHAFT?
