93 ranger 2wd brake calipers wont go back on

Just bought this ranger and needed new brake pads . I got the drivers side off ,put the pads on .. now I can't get the caliper back on so the grooves for the pins to align . I've cleaned the the pin grooves and sanded the edges . But I just can't seen to get it back together . I've watched some how to videos and looks like everyone else's just slides right in . Any ideas would be appreciated before I get the grinder out !

Welcome to the forum

What year Ranger?

Calipers are loose with new pads on correct?
If not you haven't reset caliper piston all the way back in, open bleeder and push it in farther.

Can be snug but should be easily moveable to line it up.

The sliders don't just push in, you need to tap them in with a hammer at first, then switch to a 3/8 or 1/2" extension to finish it off by tapping extension

Yes I have the Piston pushed all the way in . I just can't seem to get the pin grooves lined up . It's either top or the bottom . I can't get both. I've tried hitting it with a hammer but still won't go

Yes the pads are in . The caliper is hitting on the edge of the pin grooves. It's like it too big or something even tho I just took it apart this morning
