Hoist and rack for bed removal/storage

2003 2.3L 4 banger, 240K

Besides needing a new fuel pump I have some frame issues to fix before my next inspection, so I'll be removing the bed all the way. I'd like to build a temporary rack in the backyard, drive under it, hoist the bed straight up, and drive out. I can manage the carpentry ok. Got any suggestions for how to grab onto or support the bed while hoisting? Can you post links to pics or vids? Thanks for any suggestions. I'll be working solo and outdoors

The bed weighs nothing, a car battery probably weighs more. There is no reason for a hoist. Just get a buddy, pick it up and set it on some 2x4's. If you have no friends there are other forums to help with that.

You can lift it by the upper bed rails

Cut a couple of 2x4's and put them under the bed rail as close to the stake holes as possible, across the bed of course
I would use 4 C-clamps to hold them in place but up to you

Lift bed using the 2x4's I would use 2 lift points on each 2x4s at least 3ft apart, to keep it balanced

On my stepside, there were bolt holes on the inside bed walls for cleats. I just hooked a set of ratchet straps diagonally across the sets and hooked an engine hoist where the X came together. Worked well enough for removing and reinstalling the bed by myself a couple of times.
