Still having trouble pulling liffters out

I'm still having trouble pulling out the lifters. I pull on them gently but all I get is I end up pulling out the center nipple shapped part and the outer part stays in. I even bought a lifters removal tool but it does not fit any advice I even sprayed some wd40 to loosen up and nothing what can I do?

The lifters probably stick down below the block webbing and have carbon buildup on the lower section, which is blocking their removal. Many engines have to have them drove out from the bottom.

You should fill out your signature to include what year of truck and what engine you have, so that others can help you more effectively.

He has a 4.0l SOHC so lifters are in the head, they need to be pulled UP and out

They are actually called an Hydraulic Lash Adjuster in this engine

Drawings seen in this thread: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...-video.276646/

They don't touch the cam like a "lifter" would, they do act as the spring for the rocker like a "hydraulic lifter" does to quiet down the valve train
