From: Shelton,
vacum line problem

replacing upper intake manifold on a 98 3.0 v6 ranger; do not know how or where the vacum line under the manifold,-which sticks out the back- connects; near it, on the back (on drivers side - back ) is a short tube to accept a line - but i find nothing to connect to;

Plug it and drive it

Wait for a code to be set

Look at the Vacuum hose diagram on rad support and eliminate what IS CONNECTED, and what ever is left is where it goes

Vacuum hose layouts changed yearly, even mid-yearly, lol

But someone with a 1998 3.0l may know and will see your post

It won't blow up

It will set a code over time if vacuum hose was for emissions system, like EVAP

If your dash vents stopped working then it was for them
