Rugged ridge free/lock

Hi, I change on my 1999 ranger the vacum hubs for the manual. When is installed need to be on lock position but my question is, need to be activated in the inside?? I swap but when I activated in the cabin the drive shaft engage and spin correctly but do not engage the wheels. I can see spinning the front drive shaft and both shaft of every wheel but the wheels don’t engage. Thanks and happy holidays!!!

Doesn't sound like the splines are properly engaged, but I can't see that allowing the hubs to go on if not. Have you pulled them back off and tried to realign them?

Leave the transfer case in 2WD

Lock the hubs
Have someone watch front drive shaft as you move forward or backward, it should turn if both wheels are locked

The front differential is an OPEN type
If one hub is not locked then no 4WD
An OPEN differential will only use the EASIEST axle to turn, which would be the axle that is NOT locked

So it could be just one of the new units in not Locking correctly

You can jack up each wheel and spin it unlocked and then Locked
The axle behind that wheel should also spin when Locked, but not when unLocked

We lift the vehicle, locked and manually spin the wheels and locked successfully, thanks
