I have a 2002 V6 4.0L Ranger and received error codes P0171 and P0174 (Bank 2 System is too lean - not enough fuel). A preliminary search told me to look at the vacuum lines as these codes are usually thrown for cracked lines.
I managed to find the cracked vacuum line, but am unable to find a part number to order a replacement. Any ideas on what this vacuum hose is called, or a part number? For those that have replaced this hose, any tips on how to run it along the back side of the engine? The space back there seems very tight.
Bottom hose under the 4.0 SOHC cover is cracked and leaking air. Another view of the broken hose. The hose runs under the top hose, along the engine block. The hose wraps around and heads to the other side of the engine.
Just so you know, Lean code doesn't specifically mean not enough fuel, as you have found TOO MUCH AIR sets a Lean code
Engine was never actually running Lean, code is to notify driver that there is an error in fuel calculations, computer is having adding MORE fuel than calcuated
That's the PCV Valve hose elbow and a common issue on 4.0l SOHC Rangers
Well its one of them, there are 2 or 3
That ones part number is Motorcraft KCV-133 I believe
