I am looking for recommendations on rebuilding a 5R55E transmission. Mine is slipping and know it needs an overhaul. I want to buy a used tranny and rebuild at my own pace. I'm not a tech but can follow instructions. I have the opportunity to buy used 5R55e for $200 in Ottawa, ON Canada. I was hoping to get guidance or recommendations including to the best tech in Youtube.

You want to replace the pump, with a Ford brand only
Also replace the one-way clutches
And overdrive drum should be replaced as well if its out of round

There is a turbine shaft speed(TSS) sensor inside the transmission, give it a good look, picture here: https://ww2-secure.justanswer.com/up...124735_tss.gif
If there is any doubt at all replace it, it would be a real pain to have it fail after a rebuild, lol

Clutches and bands, of course, those are what wear out, and often the only thing a trans shop replaces on a "rebuild" which pretty much guaranties trans will only last 12 to 18 months more, lol, its called a "soft parts only fix"

Many like to add the Shift kit, say it makes the trans "feel" better, its not expensive to do it when rebuilding
