If you look closely at your intake system, it is already a cold air intake. It draws outside air into the box from the outside. There is a baffle inside the box where it connects at the front that you can remove to make it sound more aggressive,
If you replace it with a fancy system with a cone type filter, you'll notice that the filter is now inside the engine compartment, drawing warm/hot air from INSIDE the compartment.
Other than making noise and lightening your wallet, really no benefit to a fancy system.
Maybe look into just replacing the flexible ridged air intake tube with a smooth tube, to smooth airflow, but again, really no benifit.
As far as a filter, there is really nothing better than the stock type filter at stopping particled from getting into your engine.
Your better off taking that $$$ and getting a good free'r flowing cat back exhaust system. That will give you the sound and free up a few xtra horsepower.

Resurrecting an old thread here. I'm adding CAI, and a Borla Exhaust and later a CVF Performance Intercooler. This will add more surface area to cool the air sucked in by the Turbo. Then a Ford Performance tune..
Will keep yall posted.,..

Cold Air comes from outside the engine bay

Turbo chargers compress the air, Intercoolers allow the compressed air to cool a bit before being forced into the intake manifold

Gasoline engines Air fuel mix is 14.7 to 1, this is a WEIGHT RATIO
14.7 pounds of air to 1 pound of gasoline
14.7 grams of air to 1 gram of gasoline

Doesn't matter if its a lawnmower or V12 dual turbo, that's the mix ratio

So the more air an engine can get then the more gasoline can be added so the more power it can generate
Its why a 5 liter engine has more power than a 4 liter engine, because it can use more air so can burn more fuel

If you use a turbo to force that extra liter of air into the engine then it can use the same amount of gasoline so release the same amount of power

Air is not just air, hot air is less dense so weighs less, its how "hot air balloons" can fly
So cooler air is denser, weighs more so more fuel can be added, the point of CAI

Intercooler is the same principle, compressing the air heats it up, intercooler allows it to cool down a bit before being mixed with fuel
