I've found that a can of squish works much better than squelch. Squish works to both squish squishes and squelch squelches, while squelch can only work on squelch's.

 

Are you trying to squash the conversation? Because if you squish the squelch, squash is soon to follow. Ask any bug you squish.

 

So, now you bring up squish which is totally different from squelch, but is very similar to squash.

Are you sure you can squelch in snow? Squelch can be a “soft sucking sound” usually for mud . Had to look that up. It really really is a word. Who knew?
