Any good turbos for 3.0 v6?
Any good turbos for 3.0 v6?
Hi I got a 05 ranger running the stock duratec 3.0l v6 Vulcan and I was wondering if there would b any turbos that would work with the motor since I see all these cars/trucks with turbos but always wondered if there was one that would work with the rangers motor. Also on that note does anyone know of any cold air intakes or short ram air intakes that would work with the 05 rangers 3.0l v6 last one I installed stalled out the ranger and caused a cranking issue but I resolved that so I wanted to know if there were others that actually work with the motor I got.
thank you in advance!

No, not really the 3.0l Vulcan runs 9.3:1 compression ratio(CR), best turbo or super charger engines are those running 9.0:1 or less CR
If you were running in a 3 LITER limited racing class category then there would be better 3.0l engines to upgrade than the Vulcan
That being said a super charger would be less expensive for a V6 engine, Morana Racing sells an adapter for that upgrade: Tom Morana Racing Engines
There are no real practical upgrades for the Vulcan engine, these engines are designed as a high RPM engine, so best power is at 3,500-4,000RPM not 2,500-3,000RPM like most engines
You need to "drive them like a rented mule", keep the RPMs high to get max power, so really need a manual transmission to do that, but you can manually shift automatics to keep RPMs high
Only real "practical upgrade", IMO, is swapping out the 3.0l V6 for a 5.0l V8
