Could anyone tell me more about the 2 wires that connnect to the air box what are they for etc.

 

They are vacuum hoses
Used to open the air cleaners preheater
When engine is cold, vacuum is sent to the flap in front of air cleaner box, it opens and allows in air from around the exhaust manifold on that side of the engine, which becomes warmer air quite fast
This helps engine to warm up faster

The vacuum valve the hoses are connected to inside the air filter box's top, is mechanical, opens when cold, closes when warm

Its not used unless outside temps get below 40degF or so
