Transmission Issue
Hey guys I didn't know where to post this so I'm posting this here. I have a '96 Ranger 5 speed manual that is incredibly difficult to shift into most gears from a dead stop but is usually fine once moving. Most of the time from a stop if I can't get into first I can go into reverse than into first easily and vice versa. I don't really know what could be causing this as I'm really not that mechanically inclined when it comes to diagnosing problems. 160kish miles on the motor(Odometer stopped counting at 144k). Grandpas truck that he sold to me and according to him he doesn't think the trans fluid has been changed. I opened the fill plug to add some because I did a little bit of research and saw that maybe it could be low but there was plenty in there. I've heard mixed results from different people saying it's not a good idea to drain it and replace it with new if it hasn't been changed before. Driving last night made me think it could also be that the clutch could not be disengaging or engaging(I don't know if it's engage or disengage lol) when I try to shift from a stop(If I don't send the clutch pedal to the floor all the way while in gear it seems to move while in gear). I don't know if any of what I said makes any sense but I'm hoping it does and someone here could give me some advice, thanks!
