Hey everyone, I just joined. I’m from Alberta. Bought a ranger for my first truck couple years ago. I joined in hopes of getting some answers on how large a tire I can put on an 18” rim on my stock height 2000 4.0 xlt off-road ranger, couldn’t find much online about, figured I’d bring er to the pros
Welcome to the form
Wheel/rim size is not the concern, as long as it fits over the brakes, lol, so 14" and larger are usually OK
Tire diameter and width is what matters, that's what can rub the fenders(diameter) and frame(width)
2000 Ranger 4x4 had 30.5" as the largest stock diameter tire, and 10" width
So that's what fits
Go here: https://tiresize.com/chart/
Select 18" wheel size
Then look for the tire size that fits 2000 Ranger 4x4
265/60R18 is 30.5x10.4 so closest to largest Stock size
A 31" would "probably" be OK, but...............22 year old suspension may not have the same clearance as 2 year old suspension, lol, so that's really up to you
You can get out the measuring tape and turn the current front wheel back and forth to get the current clearance for that diameter tire
The front tires are the ones that have clearance issues as they turn left and right
So if a tire size works on the front it will for sure work on the back, the reverse is NOT true, lol
