Issues starting and saying started

Hi I have an 1999 ford ranger with the 4.0. I am having issues getting it started and it staying started. No codes present. I've replaced spark plugs coil pack and wires. The ma's and the throttle position sensor plus the inginition switch. My next step is the crank shaft position sensor. I do have fuel pressure also. Any help on what direction I should go would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum

Do 50/50 test, always, when any engine has a crank, No Start issue
Pull off the air tube from the intake, you can leave it off for the test, make sure fan can't hit it
Open throttle and spray fuel into the engine, gasoline, ether(quick start), carb cleaner, brake cleaner, ect..............
Try to start
If it starts runs then dies you have a fuel delivery issue
If it doesn't fire at all its a spark issue
50/50 instant results, no guessing

If you have a friend to crank engine over and it starts, you can keep spraying in fuel to see if it keeps running

50/50 test is actually the only reliable method to test a distributorless engine that has fuel injection
Testing for spark doesn't test timing
Fuel pressure doesn't mean injectors are working

Crank sensor
Turn on the key, CEL(check engine light) should come on, this means computer has booted up OK
Crank engine over, CEL should go OFF, this means computer is getting a good timing signal from crank sensor
If CEL stays on when cranking engine over, replace crank sensor and check its wires

Gasoline engines just need 3 things
compression
spark
fuel

Adding electronics to the engine doesn't change any of that, just make it more reliable
Compression is mechanical, so is either good or bad, not intermittent
Spark needs to be at the right time
Fuel needs to be "burnable" and mixed with air

Fuel
Just as a heads up, recently had someone on a forum with similar issue, intermittent start and stalling, turned out he got some "bad" gas, all gasoline has some water in it, if there is too much water its "bad" gas and causes starting and running issues
Crank engine over when it has a No Start condition
Pull out any spark plug and try to light the tip with a match/lighter, should BURN instantly and well, if not its not "fuel"
