1995 ford ranger 3.0 so now I have changed all of my ebrake cables and now my ebrake cables are maxed out. I double and triple checked that I got the right cables. They are all correct. I was reading my haynes manual and it said something about resting the tensioner. Anyone know what it is talking about. Because right now if I try and press the pedal I will probably snap my ebrake cables they are seriously maxed out. These are the right and left ones. The one said 9 inch brakes but the other one doesnt. Im not sure about that This is the front one, i double checked my door for the wheelbase
The equalizer bracket needs to be on the end of the longer rear cable sheath
If you need the One Cable from brake pedal to be longer, have someone hold out the Parking brake release handle while you pull on the end of that cable to see if you can get more slack
Unhook the cable to the pedal under cab, hold release handle out while you pull the cable back and forth, using pedal and hand on end of cable, make sure it moves easily, if not try spraying lube inside the sheath
There may be another "release" in the pedal assembly, not sure on that, that allows the cam the cable is on to release more, so you get more cable out under the cab
There are only the two adjustments on parking brake cables, at the brake pedal and the Star wheels
If the old rear cables had stretched then the pedal cable would be wound up tighter than it should be on the cam, its self adjusting to take up the slack, so you need to release the cam so it can release more cable
