I have a 99 2wd ranger and sometimes when I make a right turn I hear a pop sound and can’t figure out where it’s coming from

What engine is in your 1999 Ranger?

Nothing comes to mind

Best thing to do is to jack up both front wheels, start engine, then turn the steering wheel lock to lock while checking for binding or the noise
Jack it up under lower A-frames so weight of vehicle is still on the suspension

 

Check out your ball joints.
