Has anyone had this happen before?
My 2004 Ford Ranger Edge V6 3.0L is experiencing intermittent misfire and high fuel consumption. I replaced the coil, spark plugs, and cables. I don’t have a check engine light on, and it’s not giving off any codes from the computer. I don’t know what I’m missing to track down this issue.

Misfires lower MPG because they cause the computer to run the engine Richer, plus engine has less power overall

Compression test should be next
Cold engine
Remove all 6 spark plugs, look at each tip to see if it tells you anything about that cylinder
Test each cylinder, write down results, all should be within 5-8psi of each other

10% is the rule of thumb
Don't use the highest number or the lowest
Add up the 4 "middle" numbers and divide by 4, that give you the average
Say average is 160psi, if another cylinder is 10% less 144psi or lower then its bad

There is a TSB for 2004-2006 Ford Ranger 3.0l engines
They could have recessed exhaust valve seats
