Drain on battery
Drain on battery
Hi everyone,
i have a parasitic drain, I did hook up my multimeter to the negative post and negative clamp and pulled fuses but was unsuccessful in locating the drain what would yall suggest be my next step?
I have a 2001 Ford ranger 3.0
thank you,
Mike

2001 Ranger with keyless entry(fobs) should have a 70mA drain all the time, 0.07amps
Its for the engine computer, Radio/clock memories, Keyless entry, has to be "listening 24/7" so it gets the unlock signal
With no keyless entry then 40mA, 0.04amps
So what fuse did you pull?
In the cab or engine bay?
And just a heads up 2001 will have a Battery Saver Relay, it stays on for 20-30min after key off doors closed as does GEM module
GEM is the timer, it turns off the relay then "goes to sleep"
Fuse 26 in the cab fuse box turns off battery saver relay, so pull that first then check for amp draw at battery
