2006 Ranger 4.0L Engine Tick
2006 Ford ranger 4.0 FX4 96,000 miles, runs good but has this tick!!! What the heck is this? Ideas??? video link below…

Have a friend put a GLOVED hand over tail pipe while you listen in engine bay for sound to change, if its an exhaust leak you will hear the sound change
Also when engine is STONE cold loose fan belt and remove it from crank pulley
Start engine, battery light will stay on
Try to localize the sound, engine bay will be VERY QUIET with no fan or accessories spinning
You can only run the engine for 60-90seconds with no water pump, but that is plenty of time to check things out
AND you can repeat this test as many times as you want when engine is cold again
