Won’t start

06 ranger with a 4.0 bought it without a interior fuse, panel cover, had the vehicle three years put motor and transmission in. Problem is when I turn the key I hear a relay click in the inside of the cab in the floorboard in the passenger seat, which I’ve been looking at open to the elements for the last three years, although the vehicle sat for one. Anyhow, short of a bad fuse panel I don’t know what my problem is. I’ve change the relay out. I can’t seem to get power to go to the board anymore, or through the board🤨 does anybody have some info for me??? Thanks

06 Ford ranger relay, clicking in fuse panel inside cab

Would love to find somebody that has had this problem before the relay has been changed, and jumped and still couldn’t get power through the fuse panel.
all indications are my inside fuse panel on a 06 ranger have a bad ground???

Welcome to the forum

Fuse panels never have grounds, but fuse boxes with relays can, lol

2006 Ranger has a Smart Junction Box(SJB)
The cab fuse panel is part of the SJB

SJBs were known failure points in all Ford Trucks when they started using them in 2004
They would get moisture inside the large connectors and also inside the SJB part

Look at this article, just for the pictures: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...horn_mod.shtml

It's whats inside the SJB and there are several relays mounted to circuit board, not serviceable

SJB is powered by 3 fuses from the engine bay fuse box, 1, 3, and 5: 40, 40, and 50amps respectively

Unplug all the connectors on the SJB, you lift the lever which pulls them up a bit to pull them off
Check for corrosion, like this: https://i1.wp.com/sparkys-answers.co...0/DSC09929.jpg

Ranger SJBs only came in two models, WITH Keyless entry ,and WITHOUT keyless entry
So getting a used one is not hard to do
