Door Sensor

Trying to replace door sensor. Latch screws are torx for whatever reason. 20 is a bit to small, just spins. 30 is way to big.
Suggestions? 02 if that matters.

I know that sounded dumb, but I was looking for correct size so I could buy the right one 1st time as it’s use will be a one off (27 turns out). Do I need to remove the whole latch assy to get the switch out? Video I saw says no, but visually I see no other alternative as it is so far up and in that seeing, much less finding it by feel, is not really doable.

Its a twist lock switch
But latch needs to be away from the door to twist the old one out and twist the new one in

Its normal "threads", lefty loosey, righty tighty

Some times you can leave the upper bolt in and loose so bottom of latch can come away from the door enough to remove the old one

Thanks, but I officially quit. Not only could I not even begin to get to sensor, but after removing torx bolts the latch won’t open from outside. I have to reach over from passenger side to open door from inside.

Found problem. Operating rod from handle to chassis broke at the plastic retainer at bottom. Other than maybe gorilla glue, am I, once again, screwed? Or is it replaceable, if so where is part available?

Go here: https://www.lmctruck.com/ford-ranger-bronco2-1983-2011

Select "door parts"

It will ask you what year, then Ford then Ranger and 2WD or 4x4

I assume 1993-2011 if so select that diagram

See what the part is called, local auto parts store may have it as well

Found link. Doesn’t really give description or show that plastic retainer, so I will have to go into door again and see if it is even replaceable.

Last question hopefully. Found where clip goes, completely disintegrated, probably since that is a high impact area opening door 10/20 times a day for 20 yrs. Anyway, entered description (lower retaining clip for handle lock rod). Sorta looks right but not exactly the same as what I saw on passenger side. For $10 should I chance it, tho it’s not in a really easy place to get to and I’m really tired of taking the door apart?

Well you are there so only you can make the call if its the right part

I have no idea what door part you are looking for now since you mentioned "high impact" area, which would not be INSIDE the door, the latch itself is the only part inside a door that I would consider to be "high impact"

Sorry, bad wording. The wear on a plastic clip from opening the door handle 30 times a day x 20 years is high. Of course you can’t make a decision for me, that part was more rhetorical than an actual question. 5 different sites show 5 different styles all guaranteed to fit. It is the lower retainer clip for the handle operating rod that snaps into a hole in door frame side. Think I may go to an auto body shop and ask them if they can get me the right one if I can’t find one soon. Crawling across the passenger side to open door is getting old.
