Engine surging at 3000 RPM

I have a 2011 with a 4.0L V6, auto trans. 65,000 miles. In N or P if you rev the engine it surges at 3000 RPM. Under normal driving conditions the engine is fine. No surging at 3000 RPM +. Fuel filter was just replaced. Had no effect. Is this a normal condition?

It's normal. My '06 does the same. Drive it and enjoy.

Yep, normal. Not sure what year it began, but many newer vehicle computers have a RevLimiter at ~3000rpms.
Prevents revving Engin+Trans in Park\Neut then dropping shift into Reverse\Drive & the associated damage that can do.
So stop revving your engine in Park\Neut; not good for the mechanicals & a waste of fuel.
