Ford ranger 4.0 sohc not running =(

ok guys i need a little help, i ended up buying a mint 99 F150 that i will be using as a summer ( salt free ) rig. In the mean time my 2003 ranger 4.0 sohc has served me well, i plan to continue using her in the bad weathers we get here.
I had the ranger parked for 3 or 4 months during the summer as i noticed the temperature gauge running a bit hotter then usual towing my trailer the summer. Anywho, i have had the oil pressure gauge showing up close to zero kind of around the same time.
Long story short , i goes to start up my ranger two weeks ago, oil pressure gauge showing 0, truck working perfect. No issues, drove it to town, etc.
Tries starting up the ranger today now that the f150 is stored for winter and ranger runs for a few seconds, then dead. runs for a few seconds then dead. Oil pressure gauge showing low, if i managed to rev the engine up before it dies it builds up to about 40% oil pressure.
I installed a new oil filter, new synethic oil, changed the oil filter, conventional oil, even got some lucas stabilizer in it.
I would assume this is a bad fuel pump, ( i replaced the fuel pump last year) however not sure with the oil pressure gauge being 0 for a while. The truck sounds normal when it starts up, and when i rev it up before it dies.
Radiator looks clean as well. I have a OBD code reader orded.
Any ideas?

thanks.

Try a new fuel filter first, if fuel pump was not working then no start at all, you describe "running out of gas" after a few seconds, certainly possible fuel pump is weak but changing the filter would be first

How old is the gas in the tank now?
Might try adding some fresh fuel

Change the oil pressure switch, make sure its threads are bare metal for a good ground to engine

Fords after 1988 use an oil pressure SWITCH, on or off, the gauge is also either on or off, not true pressure
If oil pressure at the switch is under 6spi then gauge reads 0
If oil pressure is above 6psi then gauge reads in "normal" range
Any up and down needle movement at the oil gauge is electrical voltage not oil pressure
So your alternator may be weak at idle if that is when needle drops a bit

Just put in new gas , no luck, had to order a fuel filter , can’t seem to get one locally.
does the oil switch cause a engine to die ? Or just for a gauge ?
thanks

It shouldn't unless it has factory Remote Start, I believe these did have the ability to shut off engine if no oil pressure or overheating was "seen" by that module

I charged the battery fully, truck is running fine again now. I’m thinking battery was just down below to power the fuel pump. I’m still gonna swap that sensor out and fuel filter and give the truck new spark plugs , it has a bit of a lumpy idle but it’s running !! Lol
