Icon5 cold air/hot air - *NO AIR, NO FAN*

I got a '98 Ranger. I lost my heater & a/c Blower. I pulled it, put 12v on it .....spun like a top. Also had 12 at input plug to motor. Thinkin' it's not a fuse 'cause i have ac to it. Maybe fan switch ? Is there a common problem with "no fan operation" ?

Thanks for the help folks ,
~tb
P/S haven't had a problem to list since 2022 :-)

Change your blower motor resistor under the hood by your blower and you should be good to go. Also check to make sure you don't have any dust or debris buildup inside your HVAC box as it will cause issues with blower and or resistor

I checked it.....earlier..... i looked at it, the coils, looked ok, as i remember i ohmed them, ok..... i think i jumped them to see if i could make it spin..... nothing i saw was "bad" . BUT i have heard that is the major failing item. Is there any GOOD checks one can do on it ........again, it seems ok .

THANKS Mike

If you check the resistance on them and it's showing some resistance of course each separate coil should show a different resistance you know versus your high medium and low speeds. Probably best bet would be to check for voltage with it plugged in at the fan connector I'm sorry blower connector. If you're not seeing any voltage or check your fuses and relays to make sure no issues there. But basically you're going to have to chase voltage to make sure you're getting voltage in the correct places check the back of your HVAC controller that could also be an issue the blower control switch may be bad and not sending a signal to the blower motor. And you said you're already applied direct power to the blower motor and it did spin?

Yes, i did 12dcv on it, and it did spun, AND there was 12dcv at the input plug.

I had pulled the coils out before, psychically ok, coils not open.did not chk volts at input plug. Those coils seem very thick to be bad, on sight. i gotta pull again i guess. I did not look at the plug, im guessin more than 2 pins, i do not have a schematic,so i will "assume" 12dcv input on at least 1 , not sure after that.

Thanks again......

So first pull your HVAC ontrol out of the dash and check for power there.
https://cardiagn.com/2002-ford-range...ring-diagrams/. Here's a link for wiring diagram to make things a little easier. If you have voltage at the controller then check by the blower motor.
