3L - Just replaced Coil Pack and truck wont start

I am in the process of doing all the maintenance and updating for my 1999 3L Ford Ranger. I installed new spark plugs and spark plug wires. All of the new spark plug wires were routed properly and the truck was running just fine. I then got a new Coil Pack off of Amazon in the mail, so I took off the spark plug wires and labeled them. I installed the new Coil Pack and then put the wires back on as well as the wiring connector. It did not start, and I couldnt figure out the issue.

I reversed the process and put the old Coil Pack in, all of the wires are connected properly and the wiring connector is installed properly, however the truck will not start. It does crank and throws a CEL. I have disconnected the battery thinking maybe it could be the ECU throwing a fit from the bad new Coil Pack and not running right with the old one put back in.

Any ideas as to what is going on? I was looking forward to going fishing this evening with the truck running right but may have to do some research or get a mobile mechanic to take a look.

Solution

So the problem was the spark plug wires from cylinder 4 and 6 were switched when I re-installed them. I labeled them incorrectly. The truck fired right up after I used a battery tender (battery was dying from trying to start multiple times, ill get a new one) I was a bit surprised because my other vehicles have ran with this issue, but just misfire or throw a CEL rather than just not starting at all which I thought indicated a bad coil pack or a bent or bad wiring connector.

My advice to anyone changing their coil pack for their 3L Ford Ranger is:
Buy the coil pack with a vertical connector. Rock auto is my preferred method but Amazon had one day shipping for a good deal so I went with that. Buy a coil pack with a vertical connector which should have the same firing order as the one you currently have.
I purchased a horizontal connector on Amazon for cheap trying to save some money and it has some obscure firing order that wasn’t listened on the package or anywhere on the coil pack.

Is it the same as the oem Motorcraft one? Is it 1:1?

Like terminal 1 goes to cylinder 1, terminal 2 to cylinder 2, etc?
