So I recently picked up a 2011 4.0 sport with a blown motor, I also picked up a 2008 4.0 Ranger with 70k miles but no frame left. thought id just swap the motor and tranny from the 08 into the 11 and it wouldn't be to bad. Swap went in fine but just wont start. we tried putting the 08 wiring harness, computer, and ignition in and used the 08 key. It'll try to turnover and all the lights come on including a red lock and key but it just wont start. Wanted to see if anyone had any ideas

 

You'll also need the instrument cluster from the 08.

The key is coded to the instrument cluster and the instrument cluster is digitally matched to the computer.

But it should have started and ran with all the 2011 stuff.
