My 2001 3.0 Ranger with auto trans does not accurately indicate which gear (or neutral/park) I am in. It now indicates in the middle of the positions but does shift and change positions. Never did it before, but I thought I heard something metallic in the dash when I first took off. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

My 2011 4.0 just developed this issue last week. Haven’t had a chance to get under it yet.
