First time poster on here, I've been scouring the internet for a week trying to figure out what to do with my rear passenger door.
As you can see in the picture videos posted, I have the "lever" on the lower latch lifted up like it should be. Been soaking in PB for 2 days now and still hasn't budged, I've kicked it a bunch, blah blah blah. Cut a small hole in door panel to get a screw driver into the latch area and still nothing. Saw another thread where a guy put a Strat on the door and eventually was able to pull it open, Im just afraid to bend or break something that way.
The only way I see these doors opening is cutting out the bolts that hold the door striker in from underneath, and hopefully pulling door open that way, then replacing probably the door and striker. I'm really nervous to do this though, I don't want to do some damage I can't undo or something.
Really hoping someone who's either cut the striker out or somehow got the latch to budge to chime in here. It's my first nice truck with low miles, everything else is great besides these doors. I really want to fix this, but if it's gonna be more damage/money than it's worth, maybe I'll hold off for the time being.
Wow. Thats a hard one. Maybe some judicious use of heat? I don’t have any ideas other than that. Hopefully someone here has. Good luck.
I have posted all over the internet, and really gotten nothing. One guy on reddit told me me he ended up cutting his out, but wasn't given much details. I still have to try the drivers side rear door and see if that one is the same. If it is, I'll eventually cut these doors out and do a thorough write up and post it on here, I know I can't be the only one this has happened to, or will happen to.
