2008 ranger 4wd t/c motor position

Hello folks,my t/c shift motor needs replacing, (weekmotor) from what I've been reading, anyway ordering a new dorman 600-931 and dorman specifically states that their motor is shipped in neutral position? My mitchell manual says when replacing shift motor, place it in 4hi BEFORE undoing motor from t/c, I dont have a neutral position, so how does it line up when turning shift **** to 4hi before divorcing motor from t/c, and ford also states to place trans. (Auto) in neutral so no pressure on t/c, may have to "jiggle" stem sticking out of case to align with triangle slot in motor, dorman also states to NEVER plug in motor to move position of motor shaft with **** on dash w/o it being bolted up to case, don't know why that is either, any help will help...read all other posts, didn't help all that much, thanks ahead to anyone.

I installed a Dorman a couple times. There is no neutral. Just 2hi, 4hi, and 4low. Everything should be in 2hi when installed. Make sure the trans mission pin is 2hi. Put the motor on the pin and gently move it a very little so that the screws line up. Put all the screws in before tightening any of them.

Thanks Tim, worked great with a little jiggling and it dropped right in, works great!
