4.0 wont drop idle?

I have a 1992 4.0 Ranger that was originally an auto and was swapped to a manual.

When its first started it idles at about 1300 then after a few seconds it will drop to about 800 or so... but then if you hit the gas the idle goes back up to around 1300 and it won't drop back down.

I was thinking could it be the computer because im pretty sure the computer wasnt swapped with a computer from a manaul so its still the auto computer. I just wanted to see what you guys thought on the situation?

Tps??? maybe your throttle position sensor is getting stuck once you hit the gas. you can check it with a potentiometer(sp).

I vote for a dirty throttle body. Does the gas pedal feel sticky at all?
