4x4 top speed

Is it ok to put the truck in 4x4 going under 45 mph and then drive 50 or 60 mph on the freeway.

Your 4x4(high) will engage at freeway speeds, but if you need 4wd, you have NO business travelling that fast.

and you give into that? C'mon, man use your noggin... THEY'LL be the one's to have the awesome wipeout's... and if you're driving slow and responsible in the snow, you get to watch free entertainment!!!

45 should be the max, but as stated by some, you can certainly shift into 4wd at 85... don't even have to worry about damage done to the transfer case internals or anything!

That was sarcasm

First of all depending on the year of the truck you may NOT be able to engage the 4x4 at those speeds. Give us more info on the truck you'll be doing this in.

Ok minor exception to the "4WD Does Not Make Your Truck Invincible" rules.

im callin bull**** Kyle, im 19 and that makes me invincible alone, throw 4wd into the mix with a front locker on the ice/snow... damn im UNSTOPPABLE!!!!
/sarcasm

god all these threads are retarded... im going to call every last person a dumbass who believes they need 4wd going above 45, if that fast on snow.

if your in a desert truck, or your playing on the dunes SURE go ahead use 4wd... but if your on ice/snow its not gonna help at 75+ if you go sideways, i'll argue that any day all day

as my dad said "there is no driving on ice 4wd or not"

unless u have like rally studded tires imo, then it would be tricky and i still wouldnt go anything above 45.

but if yall wanna go kill yourselves, or go wreck because u thought u could go 80 in the snow, GO RIGHT AHEAD but NONE of us want to hear about the tree you hit

/rant

Laramie SUCKS about plowing roads, they have yet to this year except I80.. and that was the state lol

they plow 3 roads here in town.. and even then they realllly suck at it by the sounds of it, so the snow gets packed down then turns to ice its wonderful

The only thing you need 4WD for is getting going. Its not going to help prevent you from spinnign out of control or avoiding that stopped car infront of you. I have never needed to use 4WD on a freeway because they are normally much clearer then the side streets and highways.

And have you hear of the MN meet?

Agreed with you. Shoot, whild the Ranger and the Bronco are down, I get to drive my folks 93 Exploder Sport. Shift motor is jammed and I'm not about to worry about it. 1 it's a gutless wonder (glad I have the SOHC) and 2 I'd rather keep it how it is in 2wd. Now granted we have yet to get any snow here, so I have no need for 4wd. BTW who else has NOT had snow this winter?
