rough idle?
rough idle?
im having trouble with finding out whats wrong with my truck every time i get in and start it up it runs fine for the first 5min then when it warms up i get what seems like a really bad rough idle. it doesnt matter if im at a stop,in park, or driving its just getting worse. does anyone have a suggestion. im sick of takin it in and payin for a service so they can tell me they couldnt find anything. any help would be great.
Idle air controler (IAC) maybe? My buddies Expedition did that. Took it out, cleaned it with brake cleaner, ran great. Can also buy a new one, but try cleaning it first.
It should be on the throttle body, it lets air go around the closed throttle body when at idle.
Maybe someone on here can get better pics?

I've heard 60-120 bucks, 120 being dealer I'm sure!. We cleaned my buddies and it lasted until he sold it about a year later, could still be fine!
My 2000 does the same thing. 3 garages and $500 nothing. My gas mileage went to hell about the same time. I've replaced plugs, wires, MAF (cleaned it too), every freakin' filter I can find, PCV, etc. The last (literally) round was having the upper intake manifold gasket replaced as they found a small leak. Still runs like crap and gets crappy gas mileage. It will be traded in soon. Enough is enough. Its also been checked for vaccum leaks, AIC cleaned.
Sean, take a close look at the elbow hose that connects the PCV tube to the throttle body. On mine it is under the top radiator hose. These hoses are know to deteriorate and create a vacuum leak. I recently had this problem and searched a long time before I found the solution.
