I was washing my truck today and i noticed that my truck bed was a little more off on one side than the other? wtf? did it twist? i looked at some old pics i took of it when i bought it and i think it was the same way. It looks all straight from the rear and sides but the spacing is a little off on one side. all i did was a few donuts in some sand and i wasnt going hard on it. heres some pics.. is this somthing i should worry about? im pretty pissed..

Just loosen the bed bolts and re-seat it :-) T-55 Torx Bit should do you good =)

 

it was like this befor i now remember. What do i have to remove to do that? and is it hard? i think i have to remove the bed liner right?

 

loosen the bolts, align it the tighten it back down.

there are only 6 bolts. many rangers are just like this. crappy assembly job

when you look in the box there are 6 bolts on the "floor" of the box, if u have a bedliner then you wont see them youll have to remover the liner

 

great i was hoping not to have to do that, guess im heading out to go rip out my liner, i know what your takling about now.

well i found out how to remove the liner pretty easy ha, but new problem I dont have torx bolts big enough for those bolts. guess ill have to pick some up when i get the chance. I'm sure it will be fine until then, Lame why cant they be like alan wrench bolts instead.. or even socket bolts?...

 

its a T55 as said above, only need to buy one

well i figured out you can take them out with allen wrenches too, but they just wouldnt budge, i think im just going to leave it the way it is, not going to hurt anything and its not even noticable unless your actually looking at it I got the liner out which was a complete waist of time seeings how i couldnt even get the bolts to budge, now i got to rip out my toolbox again just to throw the liner back in. What a waist of time.

 

get a spray in liner. way better. you wouldn't even have to take it out in the future when you do get a t55. that plastic liner is a piece of garbage. trust me get the spray in one.

 

the liner with the ford logo on it? I actually think that liner is very durable. It has held up great and is really stong.. i just poped it back in too. but it started to poor so ill have to throw the toolbox back in tommorow.

 

mine does that every time i take the truck out. just loosen the bolts align.

 

Yeah buddy... the Ford liner is just as crappy as the rest... drop-ins are no good... you HAVE to spray it

 

drop ins stratch the box to much and they hold water and dust/dirt under there and water + dust/dirt = rust

 

No he doesn't. Drop in's cheaper, as he's already got it.

I'd have a drop in if I could.

And please, if you do decide to readjust the bed, do yourself a favor, AND GET THE RIGHT T55 BIT!

You'll ruin the bolts in the bed using an alan wrench, as well as strip the hell out of the wrench!

 

Mine is just like that. It's my cab though :( I have yet to fix it!

 

dunno i still couldnt get the bolts to budge with even with the alan wrench. any way i can break them loose? i think i might just leave it.. its fine? :\ plus all i have is a screw driver type thing were you put the torx bit into and if i couldnt even break the bolt loose with the alan wrench im sure as hell not going to be able to do it with a torx screw driver..

 

T55 + ratchet worked for me. Go get yourself a good set of tools!

 

buy a breaker bar.. they work wonders

 

aka a 'socket wrench' that you can attach torx bits too instead?

you live in the north east the only way your going to get that bed off is if you cut the torx heads off, then your going to have to heat the **** out of the studs and slowly turn them off, then replace with new bolts.

that was the only way i got my bed off when i did my body lift. PB blaster is useless on body bolts that see salt for almost 6 months out of the year, so dont even try.. just get a grinder and go to town

 

im in jersey and i never had many problems with my 1st gens when doin the bed bolts, ive only ever snapped 2 of them, it just takes some patience
