83 ranger value

Im looking at buying a 83 ranger 4x4. It has 260k on the body, 100k on the 1988 EFI 2.3L motor, and 75K on the 4speed trans. It leaks power steering fluid, and is in kinda rough shape but only surface rust (CA truck). I would use the truck to get back and forth to work and hauling stuff around town when needed. I live in the So Cal, so the it won't see much off-roading. The guy selling it wants a grand. I love Ford, there all i drive, but im new to trucks/rangers, so could someone please tell me what they think and what they would pay for this truck. Im going to look at it Sat. so I need some help fast. Thanks.

I paid $1,400 for mine and it was in great condition, only 87k miles doesn't leak anything. My grandfather just bought a 88 for $1,500 auto with 100k miles good condition doesn't leak

Not necessarily. It could be just the pressure hose, which is, I believe $30. Could be the lack of a rubber gasket on the nut on that hose too, which is an easy fix. Just get a crush washer.

As far as how much, I would say $750 is the highest I would go. Offer $500, and see what their counter offer is.
