My flowmaster 44 should be here before long so I'm looking to get some duals bent up.

I wanting to run them out behind my sliders like Trigger, but on both sides.

The sliders I have are only 78" long. So it should fit nice.

I had it setup to get them on yesterday but my welder flaked on me so maybe I'll get em on next weekend.


But I'm bl'd and want to keep the exhaust high and tight. So I was thinking about getting them to bend them so they'll fit between the frame and body, then run down the outside of the frame to a set of these.



Has anyone ever run their exhaust between the body and frame? Do you think there would be any problem with heat and a fiberglass bed? ..and what about running it over the gas tank?

 

I wouldn't run it close to the gas tank, but if you can figure out a way to make it work go for it, I'd like to see it.

 

That's what I'm worried about.

I'm wondering if it's even possible to run a pipe out the drivers side with the gas tank and driveshaft in the way?

 

The only way that is possible, is with a custom front axle setup.. I.E. SAS - Lets you run full true duals and gets all that "crap" out of the way so you can safely run it.. I'm sure with some funky work you coudl get a dual setup going like that, but theres a reason the muffler is on the passenger side of the vehicle

 

My buddy with his old 92 ranger ran a setup like that

It's only possible to run duals before the tire on both sides with a body lift, he had the pipes ran thru the body and frame like you mentioned. That's such an older truck compared to your 03, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

The only issue there is that those older trucks had heaps of room under them.. alot different then the 2003's.. I personally wouldnt even try runnign it with a bodylift.. only because the fuel tank is literally right next to it if you try running that... Wouldn't want to accidently spill a little fuel on the pump or youll have an issue with an exhaust-hot pipe right next to you

 

Not true. I used have *true* duals coming out before the tire on both sides. I don't have a bodylift. You just have to run the exhaust under the frame and back between the rockers and the frame. I still have this setup, but it goes up into my bed instead of turning out before the tire.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try it and see how it goes. I figure if I keep tight to the underside of the bed I should be good going over the tank.

Just a little worried about the heat. Maybe I'll put down some of that heat mat stuff on top of the gas tank.
