Hey guys first post here..Been reading a little about the 4.0 rangers...I currently drive a 97 f250 7.3L turbo diesel and absolutely love the motor..But not the body so much, its got some rust holes and the front end is a nightmare..My grandfather has a 06 ranger that he originally had in his will for me when he passes and he inst doing to hot as he was just diagnosed with cancer..Since I bought a truck before he gave it to me its now for sale..Im tired of the loud slowness of my diesel but love the feel and size of it so im looking for a little advice and reviews on the ranger..I drove it the other day and the ride and power seemed pretty good so im just wondering what some common problems are with these trucks/motors and so on...Thanks in advance for any input

 

06, not too many issues. Earlier 4.0 had timing chain issues. Welcome to RF btw

 

The only real issue I know of on the 4.0 Rangers is the timing chain rattle.

 

What about the coolant leaking into the cyl.? How do they blow head gaskets?

 

I have not heard of that issue.

btw way is it 4x4, supercab or regular...etc..? more info on the truck if you dont mind, pics would be great
