Yep, I don't believe Ford even made a transmission to go behind a 5.0 did they? I thought they were all belt driven???

Ok, basically, if you are concerned about emissions legality and your gauges, as well as OBD 2, you will want to run an explorer wiring harness. Which means you will need to run a 4R70W from an exploder. If you don't car about this, and plan on running the Crown vic wiring harness, you will have to use the crown vic trans. Of course, these only hold true if you don't want to have the PCM reflashed and don't mid ripping the harness apart to rid it of the trans wiring. One other option, is to run a mustang wiring harness, then you could run whatever trans you feel like (run a man computer for a man, auto computer for a mustang auto trans).

If I were you, Id get the explorer wiring and trans and put that in. Since you are 4x4, you will either have to run a full size transfer case (like from an F-150), or get an advance adapter to bolt up your stock 1354 ranger t-case.

I'm using an AOD with the advance adapter kit. Why? I had the tranny sitting around, and since I was using an older PCM, I didn't want to worry about electronics for the transmission.
