lean code for banks 1 & 2?
my check engine light came on, i checked the code and cleared to see if it would come right back on. two days later it did. im wondering what could be causing this? a friend sugested it could be something going bad in that plastic intake or oxygen sensors. its been running fine it seems like, i still drive it everyday and havent had any issues. any help is appriciated.
he has a ohv motor dude that want help him.. get some carb cleaner and spray around the intake with the motor runing see if the idel changes if so then theirs your leak. also clean your maf it will also set off this code
thanks brandon. ill try it tomorrow.
Intake manifold gaskets are VERY common problems. However, any leak in the intake system could cause this, there are a ton of threads here on it. If you search the codes you will find a lot of suggestions on where to look.
Check your freeze frame data and look at the fuel trims. I can pinpoint exactly what the problem is just from this 99 out of 100 times. I made a post about how to troubleshoot this but the Mods around here never stickied it!
My wife's old 97 Explorer had this problem, only when it was colder. It ran rough when it was cold out, until it warmed up. Turned out to be the upper intake manifold gaskets. When they were cold (and brittle) they didn't seal up right. Once they warmed up, they expanded a little bit and sealed up, ran fine.
I took a risk buy only buying the upper gaskets and replacing them fixed it. Sometimes it is the lower gaskets though as well.
