Power Steering

i have a 1998 4.0 and my PS pump has the famous whine, i was wondering if i bought a new PS pump would that one have the whine? would it eventually have one?

Yes a new pump will have the whine. its the design of the pump.

I used that lucas stop whine stuff in mine and it quieted it down quite a bit. still noticeable, but doesn't sound like the truck is screaming when you turn.

ah, good thing i asked, what about a after market PS pump? i though about that lucas stuff, my main concern is the sound of it at idle, did it quite it down at idle?

I just bought a remanufactured one from the autoparts store for my 2.5L. It sounds even worse than my old one. Now I get the pleasure of pulling it back off. FML

oh that sucks, so i guess i have to live with the whine! that's alright, just turn up the radio lol
