3rd Blinker Mod?
well in 2004 ford got lazy and did away with the dual colored lens (brake/cargo) and went with the single red colored lens. When they did that they left the spots for the bulbs in there. You just need to find extra sockets and wire them up.
Thanks for the thread jack, you contributed nothing. Go back to your rice forums and fondle yourself to the thought of blinding other drivers with your HIDs

Why so mean to others? Jealous of his brightness and your lumen inadequacies? He was referring to fiber optic LEDs, get it right.
Did you buy the truck new? A previous owner could have changed it.

you seem quite sure to not know what your talking about...
Im not positive but I think it also depends on the model of truck as far as the 3rd brakelight goes. I had a 95 ranger XLT with the break/cargo light and also a 96 XL that only had the breaklight with no cargo. but maybe its different for the newer years. My 04 is just red
Sometime during the 2003 model year, Ford eliminated the cargo light option on Rangers. Before that, a Ranger would have come from the factory with either the all red CHMSL or the white/red/white version for cargos. My 2003 was delivered new with the red one.
XL, EDGEs got all reds.
XLTs, some EDGEs got the cargo lamps stock.
04+ all red is standard across the board.
All are interchangable using factory parts....for example....you have an all red one, and want the cargo lamp one....get a cargo lamp one AND the 3bulb harness behind it. both the 1 bulb and 3 bulb harnesses clip into the same clip. 04+ i believe you need to run a seperate wire from your dome light to those cargo lamps.
You could even be cool like me....and get a 08 Super Duty 3rd brake lamp. that's right....i'm the only one here with one. eat it. lol.
Like I was trying to say before someone tried to flame me, I already have an LED conversion in my 3rd, but it takes up the entire width so I don't have room for turn signals inside of there. I am going to redo my 3rd brakelight with a new board I have (and can get more of) - It has 2 settings (low and high) so I can even set it up as an extra running light if I wanted too.
Here is the board off...(you can compare the size to the fog light switch just to get an idea on size)

Here is the board with the lights off sitting on my dirty kitchen table with normal exposure and no flash. - The disperser panel on the back of this board owns.... it is what focuses the LED power so good.
High setting.

Here is the projection into the ceiling
- as you can see it lights up the entire room red.
Here is the LOW setting

This is the perfect match for the L1224R tail light mod. Rearward LEDs at their finest.

Yet another weird ford thing. my guess.....since they axed the cargos on rangers three years ago...and they are planning to axe the ranger in a few more.....
still odd to me. lol. ford is weird sometimes.

I dremelled that entire rear end off mine to fit the boards I have in there now.
lol....that mold aint dead....they still sell f250/350 superdutys with the same exact third brake lamps w/ cargos...but with a different lense. same lamp different lense. hmm....it's really odd that Cody's is missing the holes. It doesn't make sence, i know. why punch holes out on most, but not all in the part production? same exact backing part ya know i mean.
*thanks...can't wait. lol.

I don't really understand why you would want cargo lights anyways... I mean they have to be so dim that they cant really do any good. I have a tonneau cover so it definitely wouldn't help me. If I was forced to go with the white/red lens I would use some red or amber LED for the blinker mod. It would be so much better to install a white neon tube under each side of the truck bed (inside of the bed) for 'cargo' lighting.
lol...screw the ranger. they are only sold as fleet vehicles anyway right? lol
believe it or not....my 906 autolumination incadesant Xenon/hyperwhite bulbs light up the bed just fine...even with a toolbox. w/o toolbox....its a real good way of lighting the bed. Even WAY more impressive...is those same bulbs in my dome lights.

Those may pop out. I know in trolling through junk yards that on many of them they put plugs in the 2 outside holes. Most of the plugs are white but some are black.
