ACCIDENT MOD >:{
Well today I got taken out by a 80 year old woman.
I was coming home from walmart and it had just started sprinkling. I was on a four lane street. 2 Eastbound, and 2 westbound. I was heading eastbound in the slow lane, with a Dodge caravan/voyager in the fast lane. I was going 45 mph (speedlimit) and was getting ready to pass this van. My driver's front tire was equal with the van's passanger rear tire. She then decided that she wanted to be in my lane, and just came on over. I hit the brakes, which I just slid because it was wet and greasy. Well she kept coming over, and I had no-where to go. SO up the curb I went. She still kept coming and hit me on the driver's front.
So I came to a stop. She of course just kept going. I ended up getting off the curb, and chased her down, corralled her into the gas station. She swore up and down that she didn't hit me. Which after I showed her my front fender, thought otherwise. So I talked to my insurance, and filed a report. I should hear from an adjuster on Monday hopefully.
So anyway now I have this nice 6 inch smack on my driver's side fender. The passenger side front wheel is now out of balance, because the car shakes. NICE HUH? Anyway at least she had insurance. That's a good thing! Sorry guys just venting...a little pissed about the whole thing.
Update:
Ok so I'll give ya'll the current update. So I went and had an estimate done (a body shop that was recommended by my insurance company) by a local body shop. Well the estimate was less to be desired. They had the removal, REPAIR, and installation of the front fender bumper. They would remove the "5.0" *badge and restick it on. I also have a vibration in the front which leaves me to believe that the passenger side tire is bent. Well they just put a wheel balance on the estimate, no front end alignment either. Total came out to $906.00. Needless to say I was not happy at all.
So the insurance company got that estimate, as well as pictures of my car and the damage. *At this point my insurance company had talked to me and gotten my side of the story. Which my liability adjuster had basically said that the woman had done an illegal lane change which in turn caused the contact between our vehicles.
This all happened on Monday, well on monday afternoon I get a phone call that I missed. It ended up being the lady who hit me. She said Hi this is ****** you know the one that got in a wreck or accident or whatever on Sat. I called my insurance blah blah blah...give me a call my # is blah blah blah. So I have this msg saved on my phone, with the phone #, time , date. Fast forward 4 days and I call my insurance again and come to find out my adjuster called and talked to the lady, come to find out 3 times that day. Everytime she talked to her, her story changed. Pretty much came down to her saying She NEVER got into a car accident on Sat. So ummmm I guess she just miraculously got my phone #? and left me a msg? and I have all of her info, vin # address, phone #, car make and model, her full name? WTF?????
So then, I decide you know what I really don't like this body shop estimate. So I go to our local Ford dealership. $2,400.00 later on a estimate. So I call my insurance again, and let them know that I am not happy with the estimate, nor the body shop and what they looked at. They didn't even have a front end alignment ! WTF? So once again I call my insurance (mind you, everytime I call I get a different person, so I have to explain all over again EVERYTIME!) tell them I got another estimate, from my local ford dealership and I will not be using their body shop. Being \\they really didn't look at the car. Ford obviously did. Well I'm told that because my insurance (USAA) uses this specific body shop they "TRUST" them, so if i want to use the dealership estimate or repair the car there, I have to have FORD fax their estimate over to B&G autobody to the guy who did my estimate the first time. *Meantime my insurance company calls me yet again to ask me if state farm who represents the chick who hit me can call me to get my side of the story. I've already done a recorded msg with my insurance and I agree. So state farm calls me and I tell them what happened, and I also tell them that this chick hit me and left the scene...she never even stopped. Then she offered me money in order not to report it to her insurance. Then she calls me and leaves me a voicemail. Then she denies the whole incident. Her insurance adjuster just said "OH" hahahahah GOTCHA *****!!!!
So as it stands right now, my insurance company has a recording of the voicemail, and they are fwding that to state farm. She says her name her # and identifies herself as the person who got in a accident with me. LOL NICE!!! So right now I'm just waiting for them to figure out what they are going to do. I'm looking at hopefully getting the car turned back to an LX front end, and make the car look as original as it possibly could. So finger's crossed!
Here's pics of the fender's:

Or do the smart thing and actually have all the damage fixed....Nothing irritates me more is when someone has a nice car that has been in an accident and doesn't get it fixed.
Sucks it happened man, but thats what insurance is for.

[QUOTE=Toms994x4;1757404]I take it the horn in your car doesn't work?[/QUOTE
Yah cause 80 year old ladies aren't hard of hearing.
RangerNVS, at least you're smart enough to get all yoru ducks in a row and have evidence. Good luck and keep on pushing. Her state farm insurance needs to bring you back to 100% before crash condition(as well as your insurance) so keep on pushing them.

100% correct, do not let your insurance tell you that ford has to send over the estimate to their approved autobody shop, its against the law, you have that right no matter what state you're in. if they do it again, you tell them you are contacting a attorney and the better business bureau, PERIOD. they want to cheaply fix your ranger , and ford is a oem approved auto and colision shop, now if they want to negotiate, than tell your insurance to do it Ford.
p.s oh yea by the way, you also have the right to take the lady to small claims court and retrieve your deductible, its the law here, please check your local laws, i have don't this many times, $35 court fee and walla, since she want to deny it, than sue her are.

My insurance has told me already that I can take my car to any place that I want, but if I take it to a place that is not a "USAA" trusted body shop and have the work done, and it doesn't come out right, it's between me and whatever shop has done the work. My insurance will not get involved in it. I am starting to notice though that they keep asking me when I'm going to get it fixed, they want to pay for it, and then go after her insurance to get the money. I would think they would be fighting to get her insurance to pay for the damages....what do you guys think?
Reason why I'm asking soooo many questions is that in my 14 years of driving I've NEVER been in an accident...so all this is new to me.

That's what I was thinking. I would be frikin' laying on my horn.
On a side note:
If you elect me president in the 20** Election when I am like 40 I will petition congress to pass a law that requires senior citizens over 60 to take the state driving test every 2 years to renew their licenses.

Oh I'm sure they are trying to CHEAPLY fix my car. They keep asking me who is going to fix the car and when and I keep telling them I don't know yet, I want to wait and see if the chicks insurance is going to take full liability for the accident. Because then my insurance company isn't paying anything. It will be on her insurance.

Whether her insurance pays directly or yours does and go after hers for the money you are covered either way.

It does because if she doesn't take full liability for the accident and my insurance kicks in ...then I have to pay my deductible up front...granted I will get it back, but if her insurance does take full liability, then I pay NOTHING. So yes it does matter.
The other thing is my insurance is going to pain in the ***, being that I have one estimate for 906 dollars and one for 2442.00. Not to mention that the car is only worth 2800.00 and that was on KBB. So what do you think the outcome is going to be?
