Boowak 03-02-2008 05:26 PM

That might have some potential. I've never thought about that.

jtslmn720 03-02-2008 05:27 PM

LayingFrame89 03-02-2008 05:30 PM

have 2 options i am playing around with..

1) alum mounts with reinforcing the roof like i did the roof rack on grants cap..(about 1" or so how grants truck looked)

2) getting a 1998-2001 like roof rail system. cutting it down and putting the end caps back on it for a clean look and mounting it to the rails. then reinforcing the roof.. (as high as a rails on an explorer...

thats the plan.. hehehehe

it wont be holding a tire just like bags and stuff... tire is going in the bed on an angle tire mount

04blackedge 03-02-2008 05:37 PM

I like it really low like that

well to sit on the mounts it will be at least like 1" higher it isnt anything to stress about.. ever remember grants truck with the rack mounted will be the same system being my dad is the one that made the mounts

Sonic04Edge 03-02-2008 05:54 PM

Looks good stone. I vote for a 01-03 conversion!

zabeard 03-02-2008 05:57 PM

not bad!

dont do an 01-03 edge conversion, splash's are cool all on their own!

winks 03-02-2008 05:59 PM

I don't really like the looks of it on a stepside. If it won't be holding a tire, just bags, it kinda screams out "tourist" which makes me dislike it even more.

k.blakeley 03-02-2008 06:11 PM

lookin good

envision 12 lights ;)

our roofs can NOT handle tires even with the reinforcing i will be doing.. unless i go hogwild and put a roll cage in it.. which in time it will have..

personally i love the look... and its somewhere to mount lights.. come on winks, i have to have lights!!!

gatorblue92 03-02-2008 06:50 PM

Redneckstone 03-02-2008 10:20 PM

I've seen them with tires on them with no reinforcement, its doable! I may be swayed with the lights, but with no tire.... I dunno.

lifted97ranger 03-03-2008 06:23 AM

thats gonna look good....

it will be a good mounting point for a shovel, high lift jack, and all those freakin lights...

even the rack alone is bowing the roof just sitting up there...

Deffinally gonna reinforce the roof...
